COMPANA COOKIE POLICY

Understanding How and Why We Use Cookies

We at Compana Pet Brand LLC and our brands (“Compana”, “we/our/us”) may use cookies, web pixels and similar tracking tools (collectively, “cookies”) on our various websites to create the most effective experience possible for our users and visitors. For example, we may use cookies to analyze user traffic patterns on our websites, to make our websites work properly, to enhance your user/visitor experience, or to provide you with the latest information about our products and related services.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how we use them on our websites, what benefits they bring to you, and how you can control them when you visit our websites.

Please read our Data Privacy Notice, available at https://companapetbrands.com/privacy, which supplements this Cookie Policy to the extent any personal information is collected through cookies.

Which websites does this policy apply to?

This policy applies to Compana, as well as Compana’s brands, subsidiaries and affiliates.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are sent to and stored on your computer, smartphone, or other device for storing or retrieving information on your Internet navigation or your device. Cookies are widely used by websites, mobile applications, software or emails.

Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognize a user’s/visitor’s device. Some of the functions that cookies perform can also be achieved using similar technologies. While this Cookie Policy generally refers to “cookies” throughout, this term is intended to include these related technologies.

You can block, at any time, the cookies used on our websites:

  • through the consent management platform/cookie banner made available to you on the websites when you first arrive on the website and where legally required;
  • by setting up your browser according to the instructions below (see “Can I control or manage cookies on my computer, smartphone, or other device?” section).

We use a consent management platform/cookies banner to obtain your consent for the use and storage of cookies and to properly document your choices,.

When you access our websites, a connection is established with the consent management platform/cookies banner’s server to give us the ability to obtain consent from you for the use of cookies. The consent management platform/cookie banner then stores a cookie in your browser to activate only those cookies to which you have consented and to properly document it. The processed data is stored until the predefined storage period expires or you request to delete the data. We may retain data for longer if required or permitted by applicable law.

Our websites and the consent management platform/cookie banner automatically collect and store information in server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. The following data is collected:

  • Your choices (consent status, withdrawal of consent, etc.);
  • Your IP address, with confidentiality measures;
  • Information about your browser and your device;
  • The date and time you have visited the websites;
  • The webpage URL where you saved or updated your consent preferences;
  • The approximate location of the user that saved their consent preference;
  • A universally unique identifier (UUID) of the website visitor that clicked on the consent management platform/cookie banner.

By using the consent management platform/cookie banner, you can access the complete list of cookie groups used on the websites, and choose to accept or refuse their use. You can consent to our use of cookies according to the categories of cookies or choose  the complete list, except for the necessary cookies that do not require your consent. The list is updated regularly.

What types of cookies does Compana use on its websites?

Compana may use a variety of cookies on its brand websites. Though each of our websites is different and may use different cookies, any or all of the following categories of cookies may be used on our websites:

  • Strictly Required Cookies - These cookies are required for the websites to run and cannot be switched off. Such cookies are only set in response to actions made by you such as language, currency, login session, privacy preferences. You can set your browser to block these cookies but this might affect the way our site is working.
  • Analytics and Statistics - These cookies allow us to measure visitors traffic and see traffic sources by collecting information in data sets. They also help us understand which products and actions are more popular than others.
  • Marketing and Retargeting - These cookies are usually set by our marketing and advertising partners. They may be used by them to build a profile of your interest and later show you relevant ads. If you do not allow these cookies you will not experience targeted ads for your interests.
  • Functionality Cookies - These cookies enable our website to offer additional functions and personal settings. They can be set by us or by third-party service providers that we have placed on our pages. If you do not allow these cookies, these or some of these services may not work properly.

In addition to cookies, we may also use technologies known as pixels, web beacons, clear GIFs, and similar technologies. These technologies may be used by us in connection with some online services to, among other things, track the actions of users of the online platform (including email recipients), measure the success of our marketing campaigns, and compile statistics about usage of the online experience and response rates.

How long do cookies stay on my computer, smartphone, or other device?

The length of time a cookie stays on your device depends on its type. We use two general types of cookies on our websites:

  • Session cookies are temporary cookies which only exist during the time you use one of our websites (or more strictly, until you close the browser after using one of our websites). Session cookies help a website remember what you chose on the previous page, avoiding the need to re-enter information and improving your experience while using that website.
  • Persistent cookies stay on your device after you’ve visited a website, for example, so that the website remembers you the next time you visit. Persistent cookies help us identify you as a unique user/visitor of one of our websites.

The length of time each cookie used on the websites is provided directly through the consent management platform/cookie banner.

Can cookies pass on my Personal Information to others?

Compana will not sell (in the traditional sense of the word) any personal information gathered through cookies on any of our websites to third parties. However, as described above, we may use third party cookies on our websites to help us enhance the user/visitor experience. In this context, Compana acts as a joint data controller for the collection and transmission of data to the third-party. Beyond the collection and technical transmission, Compana does not have any control over third-party cookies. Compana is not responsible for the sharing, the publications, comments or any other contents and any other data processing activities of the third-party provider.

We may also share information we collect from cookies with our service providers, subsidiaries and affiliates, and other third parties when authorized by applicable law. We share this information in furtherance of our legitimate business interests, including to assist with our marketing and analytics efforts, among other purposes.
